Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

The group of dads from the Lucas PTO known as DEED (Dads Engaged in Engineering Dreams) is sponsoring a fun family night at the ball park!  Lucas Night at the Cedar Rapids Kernels is Friday, August 29th.  The first pitch is at 6:35, but gates open at 5:30 with lots of fun activities for families. There will also be fireworks after the game!

Ticket orders will be accepted at Lucas until Tuesday, August 26th.

Popsicles with the Principal

Here's what you can expect when you come to Lucas on Thursday, August 14th from 5:30 to 6:30 for Popsicles with the Principal:

• Find your child's class list, which will be posted in the hallways throughout Lucas.  Once you know your child's class assignment, head to the classroom to meet the teacher and drop off supplies.
• Obviously, popsicles will be available for everyone who comes!  Mrs. Merriweather and a team of helpers will be handing out popsicles in the multipurpose room.  
• After you get your popsicle and greet Mrs. Merriweather, head on outside to view the new playground equipment at the 3-6 playground and the Lucas garden. These two new additions to the Lucas landscape were the result of the generous donations to PTO last year as part of the Make A Mighty Difference fundraising campaign!
• Stop by the PTO table to enter to win Lucas merchandise: water bottles, window decals and Lucas t-shirts.   Get your questions about PTO involvement answered. 
• Visit tables for the City High Dance Camp, Cub Scouts or Girl Scouts, if you are interested in more information about these activities. 
• Pick up information about our up-coming PTO fundraiser, Make A Mighty Difference.  Donations will also be accepted at the Make A Mighty Difference table. 

This will be a fun night to kick off the 2014-2015 school year!  See you there!

Back to School Dates

School starts two weeks from today, Mighty Hawks!  Here are some important back-to-school dates to remember:

Friday, August 8th: Registration help available in Lucas cafeteria 7:30am- 5:30pm
If you have a Power School account you may register online any time before the start of school.

Tuesday, August 12th: Kindercamp for in-coming kindergarten students

Thursday, August 14th: Popsicles with the Principal 5:30-6:30
School supplies can also be dropped off in classrooms during this event.

Tuesday, August 19th: First day of school (8:25-2:00)

Wed-Fri, Aug 20th-22nd:  2:00 dismissal each day
