Local group hosting kid-friendly astronomy & outdoor activities May 31 in Coralville

View planets, the moon, stars and other celestial bodies at the STARRY Nights STAR Party with TAKO--Take a Kid Outdoors--and the help of local amateur astronomers. On Saturday, May 31, from 7-9:30 p.m. spend the evening under the stars at Auburn Hills Park & Brown Deer Golf Club as we listen for owls and other night time creatures. Stay for nighttime snacks and refreshments! Don't worry if the sky is cloudy--alternative night time activities will be ready to go.

TAKO will be setting up telescopes on the golf course north of Oakdale Blvd near Auburn Hills Park. Parking is available at Kate Wickham Elementary School. Take the trail north of the school to the bridge across Muddy Creek and then south along the Auburn Hills Wetlands. Or, meet us at 7 PM at Kate Wickham School and we will walk over as a group!

Participants should dress to walk in the woods. Dress in layers and be prepared for a range of weather conditions. Bring a hat, work gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellant, drinking water, and any other items you may need to be comfortable in the outdoors. Participants are encouraged to bring a digital camera and/or binoculars.
