Iowa City celebrates children's literature with Jan. 13-15 festival

Families and children of all ages are invited to the first One Book Two Book festival, Jan. 13-15, in downtown Iowa City.

Billed as "A Celebration of Children's Literature in the City of Literature" the event features a number of free activities on Saturday, Jan. 14, including puppet shows, authors reading from their children's books, and a meet and greet with book characters Maisy, Corduroy, Madeline, Geronimo Stilton, the Wild Thing and Biscuit the dog. For a full schedule of activities, which are being held at the Sheraton and the Iowa City Public Library, visit the One Book Two Book website.

In addition, on Sunday, Jan. 15, Reading on the Rails offers families the chance to ride the Hawkeye Express train from the University of Iowa Main Library to the North Liberty Library with reading-themed activities during the ride and at both libraries. Times and ticket information are available online; tickets must be picked up at the festival on Saturday.
