Free family fun for Halloween

Get a head start on your Halloween celebration at the Iowa City Parks & Recreation Halloween Parade and Carnival, Friday, Oct. 28, from 6-8 p.m. Put on your costumes and meet at the Weather-Dance fountain on the Downtown Plaza at 6 p.m. for a parade to the Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center (corner of Gilbert and Burlington--just a two-block walk.) Then enjoy treats, tricks, prizes, crafts, dancing, face painting, cookie decorating and more at the Rec Center until 8 p.m. There is NO COST to attend this event! All ages are welcome and children MUST be accompanied by an adult.
* In case of inclement weather, the parade will be canceled, but the carnival will be held rain or shine.

Then, on Sunday, Oct. 30, University of Iowa fraternity and sorority members invite kids ages 0-12 to Trick or Treat with the Greeks from 2-5 p.m at the Iowa Memorial Union (corner of Madison and Jefferson Streets.) Wear your costumes and bring your treat bags. Activities will include: crafts, mummy races, a movie, snacks, pumpkin bowling, frosted cookies and more! For more information, call 319-335-3059. Parking is available in the IMU ramp (across Madison St. from the IMU) or North Campus ramp (one block north of IMU.) There is an hourly parking fee, but the event is FREE!
