You can Make a Mighty Difference with PTO annual fund drive

Lucas students don't wrangle wrapping paper. They don't sell subscriptions. We conduct one annual "direct ask" campaign, asking families to donate directly to Lucas so that every penny is available for PTO projects that support our students and teachers.

Instead of giving a portion of the funds raised to the vendor that provides the items for sale, we'd like to keep all funds donated to Lucas here at school. We are asking all Lucas families to consider a donation and to share this fund drive information with those you would usually solicit with a sales pitch.

We believe ours is actually an easier sell. Just watch this video:

With your support, we seek to raise $15,000 by Nov. 1, which represents a contribution of just $60 from every Lucas family. We understand that this is out of reach for some; others are able to give more. We welcome your participation at whatever level is comfortable for you and your family.

In exchange your kids will have
  • new library books
  • field trips
  • musical instruments and equipment
and perhaps most exciting
  • an enhanced outdoor playscape and learning environment
With this year's funds, we hope to complete Phase 1 of the outdoor learning space project, which includes a .4 mile accessible walking trail around the Lucas campus, removal of some blacktop around the K-2 playground, and new outdoor equipment on both playgrounds to encourage movement during recess.

Additional information about the Make a Mighty Difference Fund Drive, as well as a printable donation form for those who prefer not to donate online, is available by clicking on the link above or in the right hand column of this page. A printed brochure will be sent home in students' backpacks next week. Additional copies are available in the school office.

If you have any questions or know of any local businesses who might be willing to lend their support, please contact Fundraising Chair Dave Snyder.
